We Turn Grief Into Action. Join the Fight for Climate Justice.

Our mission is to honour the memory of Rosa, a 15-year-old girl who tragically drowned in the devastating climate-induced floods that hit Western Europe in the summer of 2021, claiming the lives of 220 people in Belgium and Germany. We advocate for meaningful climate action by sharing and amplifying Rosa’s story as well as those of other victims of the global climate crisis.

THE PLAY

For Rosa

Dutch language production

Pour Rosa

French language production

For Rosa is a powerful one-person theatre piece written by Nic Balthazar and Benjamin Van Bunderen Robberechts, directed by Nic Balthazar. The Dutch version is performed by Felix Maesschalck, while the French adaptation, Pour Rosa, is performed by Tom Boumeridja.

The play tells the story of two teenagers who believed they could change the world, until the climate crisis violently interrupted their future. It is a story about friendship, loss, and the moment when the climate crisis stops being an abstract problem and becomes heartbreakingly real.

On stage, one young voice carries a story that belongs to an entire generation. A generation growing up with climate disasters, learning too early that the consequences of inaction are not theoretical.

Since its première at the Theater Aan Zee Festival in Ostend in August 2024, For Rosa has already been performed more than 150 times, reaching thousands of people across Belgium and the Netherlands and receiving exceptionally strong reactions from audiences and critics alike. Many more performances are planned.

The story is now travelling beyond Dutch-speaking audiences. Alongside the French adaptation Pour Rosa, the play is currently being adapted into Italian, with rehearsals already underway and a première planned for the end of 2026.

Part of the proceeds from the performances support Climate Justice for Rosa, helping to continue the work of honouring the victims of the climate crisis and pushing for justice for those whose lives have already been changed by it.
